Volunteer with us

Beyond keeping the archive, volunteers help us build classes with us — shaping lessons and workshops, bringing professors and artisans into the network, and helping carry their craft abroad. Others give a few hours a month transcribing, translating, photographing or hosting.

Where help is needed

Choose whatever fits your language, skills and time.

Build classes & workshops

Help us design and build lesson and workshop content — outlines, exercises, teaching materials for Grecanico, Griko and cooking classes. Remote, on your own schedule.

Nominate professors & artisans

Know a professor, elder speaker, baker or craftsperson? Nominate them to join the network, and help introduce their craft to audiences abroad — connecting them with classes, tours and markets.

Transcription

Type up recorded interviews in Grecanico, Griko, Italian or Greek. Two to four hours a week, fully remote.

Translation

Move lessons and field notes between Italian, Greek and English. Native or near-native speakers.

Photography & film

Document village life, festivals and sites in Calabria, Salento, Sicily and Greece.

Archiving

Catalogue scans, tapes and family papers; write short descriptions for the library.

Study circles

Host a monthly online or local meeting for learners of Griko and Grecanico.

Journey support

Help on the ground during tours: logistics, hosting, note-taking, driving.
